CMSA 2025 SEASON KEY DATES

Opening Weekend for ALL Teams – April 25th, April 26, April 27th

All U9, All U11, U13, U15, HS Division 3 City Championship End Date – Sunday, June 29th

U13, U15, HS Division 2 – City Championship End Date – Sunday, July 6th

U13, U15, HS Division 1 – City Championship End Date – Sunday, July 20th

Note:  Teams may play on any day of the week for City Championships

U9   Play Monday & Wednesday
U11 Play Tuesday & Thursday
U13 Play Monday & Wednesday
U15 Play Tuesday & Thursday
HS   Play Monday & Wednesday

AGE DIVISIONS for 2025

For information on age divisions for the 2025 season – visit HERE.

    1. CMSA U9 age division is a modified 6 player game, using an 11′ indoor soft training ball. This division will be evaluated, as there will be junior and senior teams.
    2. Due to the anticipation of umpires we will collect $690 per team in the following divisions:
      1. Division 1: U13, U15, U17/19
      2. Division 2: U15, U17/19
      3. Umpire fees will be due April 1, 2025. We will work with Team Managers to collect these, as soon as teams are formed.
    3. If other teams in any division in any categories receive umpires, AAFA may request fees from those teams as well.

Please note: Participant-requested refunds will be considered on a case-by-case basis up to February 28th 2025. Refunds will be prorated based on the time spent within the program. A $25 administration fee will also be applied for all participant-requested refunds. No refunds after March 1st 2025.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Players are not eligible to participate without the following steps being completed:

    1. ALL players can upload a copy of their player’s proof of age in RAMP when you register, in the Birth Certificate upload area. In that area you can upload a photo of your players health card, birth certificate or passport.  If you prefer, you can also email a copy to registrar@airdriegirlssoftball.com
    2. ALL NEW players: One parent for each family is required to take the Respect In Sport (RIS) Online Course. Click here for more information. Course must be completed before you register your player. If you’ve completed the course in another sport please transfer your number to Calgary Minor Softball. Please add your RIS number to RAMP.
    3. For qualified applicants, the Grant Program option, (KidSport or Jumpstart) can be selected at the time of registration. It is your responsibility to apply for the grant program at, or before the time of registration. A copy of the confirmation of application must be sent to registrar@airdriegirlssoftball.com AAFA fees must be obtained no later than the first day of Opening Weekend.

U7 – LEARN TO PLAY

    1. Our U7 Learn to Play program will run Tuesdays and Thursdays. April 29th to June 17th, 2025. The program may be extended by one week due to delays such as weather, etc.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS for U9 – U19

  1. All Players MUST have their own CSA approved batting helmets with dual ear flapsfastened chin strap and attached face mask.
  2. All players MUST wear a jill/cup to play on the diamond.
  3. All Players require a fastpitch softball glove.
  4. Softball cleats are recommended but not mandatory.
  5. ALL pitchers MUST use an approved face mask for all levels U9 and above.
  6. Face masks are strongly recommended for all infielders but are not mandatory.
  7. Purchasing an ASA approved bat is optional (please see bat size guide here and approved bat listing here).
  8. Purchasing a softball is recommended but not mandatory (U9 – 11″ indoor training ball, U11/U13 – 11″ core 47 optic ball, U15/17/19 – 12″ core 47 optic ball).

 *One approved pitcher’s mask and an ASA approved bat is provided in the team equipment bag by AAFA.

INDOOR GYM TIMES

    1. Indoor gym times are included in your registration fees and will begin after teams are made. Typically mid to end of March and will run into April, concluding before Opening weekend.
    2. We will run at least one indoor Evaluation Preparation session for each age category before evaluations beginning the last week of February.
    3. Once teams are formed, each team will be given an indoor practice time of at lease once per week. Though we attempt to provide as much indoor training as possible, this is subject to RVC Schools availability.
    4. NEW!!: (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY) All U11 to U19 teams will have the opportunity to attend a training session at Absolute Sports Calgary – Airport. More information to follow from your team staff.

PLAYER EVALUATIONS

Placing players on proper teams based on their ability is imperative and required by CMSA. AAFA will be holding mandatory player evaluations.

  1. Evaluations are mandatory and held ON WEEKENDS in March. March 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th.
  2. Additional sessions on WEEKNIGHTS between March 3rd – 13th may be required based on registration numbers and call backs/ Committee review.
  3. Evaluation Preparation Practices dates are NOT MANDATORY and are “TBA” the last week of February.
  4. Players are required to play in their evaluated division.

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

 In order to run our program successfully, we require many parent volunteer positions to be filled.

    1. Team Positions Include: Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manager,  Jersey Manager, Scorekeeper, Parent Umpires, Bench Mom, Diamond Set-Up, etc.
    2. Manager Positions: If you would like to Manage your player’s team this season, please send a message to vicepresident@airdriegirlssoftball.com
